We came last night from South Bend and had a wonderful experience. Food was good and the service was excellent. Will return the next time we're in Laporte!

Food is not what is used to be, mediocre at best. Overpriced for the hit or miss meal. Used to come here several times a week. Busy or not the staff always seems to be disorganized and unfriendly. I have waited for a table with the restaurant empty because they couldnt seem to figure out which empty table to seat us at. Over the last few years food quality and service has been steadily decreasing. Last straw was watered down whiskey.

Was on a road trip when yelp helped us find this place. For signage made it difficult find but once we found it what a hidden gem. Great food and service!!

I want to give a shout out for their chicken piccata. For whatever reason, when I am too tired to cook or don't feel well, it is all I want to eat. It is the ultimate comfort food to me. The chicken is nicely breaded and I love the richness of the buttery sauce. If I were to make one criticism it would be to add a little lemon or serve it with a slice of lemon. Thanks for making my bad days better!

Friendly atmosphere and staff. My husband loved his meal, but it was not what he ordered. He ordered veal Marsala which is served with a Marsala wine sauce and mushrooms. He was served a veal dish with a garlic butter white wine sauce topped with capers. So it wasn't a veal piccata either since there were no lemons. It tasted delicious and should probably be added as a house specialty but not as a veal Marsala since the only thing that was right was the protein.

Great place to meet a bunch of friends for lunch. We have a group of 8 that meet once a month for lunch and chitchat, the specials are always good, and so is the coconut shrimp. Service id alway great.

A very pleasant surprise, if you're traveling down I-90. Only a short mile from the highway is this fantastic restaurant, located on a golf course. The food is great and the service friendly and professional. Prices are quite cheap for what you're getting.

I just went here for the first time in a very long time. I used to work here and basically, nothing has changed in the past seven or eight years. The menu is still exactly the same. With the exception of new paint, the decor is still the same. They really need to rennovate. The food was still great, but my folks and I had a reservation and literally stood up front waiting for at least 10-15 minutes. My dad even said, "well I guess they don't want our money." Waitresses saw us and ignored us. Our waitress was nice, but she had a lot of piercings. She also forgot about our drinks that we ordered until our soups and salads came out. The perch is still great, the amaretto cheesecake mousse is still amazing, and the french onion soup is still great. I think they have also gone completely non smoking inside. While the food was great, the service just kind of dissappointed me because we went here for my Dad's birthday and I was really looking forward to it.

I was rather underwhelmed by the atmosphere here. It is located on a golf course and I guess I was expecting a little classier atmosphere. the decor really gave it no personality, although it was neat and clean and well kept up. Went here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. It was at 2:00 pm so I was expecting the lunch rush to be mostly gone. There were only about five tables filled which was less than I expected. Our server was friendly and remained attentive to us. I ordered the patty melt with a side of cole slaw. It was a decent sandwich but it did not stand out in any way. I ordered it medium rare but it was closer to medium well. The cole slaw was creamy and had a nice zing to it. The prices were not bad at all

For being located on a golf course, I think it's kind of un-spectacular. It's not as glamours as I would have hoped. The food was delicious though! I just thought it was a little bright for evening dining and the tables and chairs were kind of chintzy.

We had a party of 10 and got reservations late Sat. afternoon for that evening. We had no waiting at all, even though the place was full. There looked to be a big outing at the course but our service was excellent, as was our food. We have to get "couples" checks, and our server was happy to do that and very efficient in the process. Service was fast and accurate. I had the chicken marsala...best I have had in years. Wife had a whitefish from the "Light" menu, which was delicious, as was the green beans she had for a side dish. (We both think that the Light Menu concept is terrific, as so many restaurants tend to offer huge portions on entrees with no thought for those who just don't have that large of an appetite and can't get a doggie bag for whatever reason). We both had the homemade balsamic dressing on our salads, and loved it! Everyone in our party seemed to really enjoy their food. Only down side was a very light pour on our first round of the house wines. Second round was much better. This is the second year for our group to go there on a Saturday night, and both times were very enjoyable.

One of the last great restaurants in La Porte, IN. My mother and I just rediscovered Portofino's. The food is so good, made to order, we had the fish, and pasta dishes, they were great. The waiters and waitresses are professional, relaxed, and made us feel quite at home. The atmosphere was quiet, peaceful, relaxing. Very clean ! We love the wide open view, watching the sun go down during dinner. Parking is convenient, safe, close by. My mother is 85, so getting to and from safety is important to us and Portofino's made it simple. Great food, great service.

The food here is good. Portofino's is kind of a staple for many locals. There is a bar and private dining room in the back for special events. The dining room is a little dated, as far as decor. However, the people are friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant.

I ate here for a business lunch yesterday. It was snowing a ton and the place was still packed! The waitress couldn't have been nicer. I ordered the sandwich special which was a veggie wrap and the french onion soup. It was really good. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is b/c even though the waitress was super nice, she was slow. We were also seated by the door. Since the place was very busy, every time the door opened we were treated to a blast of cold air.

This is probably the best restaurant in Laporte. The prices are reasonable for exceptional food. If your looking for a classy restaurant for a date, business lunch or anything else, this is the place. The staff is friendly and attentive but not overbearing. We had my wedding rehearsal dinner here and the food and service were great and the price was very reasonable. Try the paninis, they are excellent.
